What does it mean when we say FAST TRAC is Youth Guided? It means that youth have a right to speak (and they are encouraged to do so) and be a part of the decisions being made about the services they receive. We also believe that youth should have the opportunity to become educated and receive information that will help them make informed decisions.
So, how does FAST TRAC get to being Youth Guided? We give youth the opportunity to develop their voice and ideas. What does this look like? Youth are members of their own decision making Advisory board. This Advisory board does many things, all of which are guided by Youth. Youth are preparing for a Family & Youth Conference in May 2012, they help determine upcoming social events, they look at what training is needed for youth in the community, and they may work on projects as a group to reduce the stigma of having a mental health challenge. Youth are also encouraged to be a part of FAST TRAC workgroups and the governance body.
All youth and their families are invited to attend the next family & youth event. The Holiday Traditions dinner will be held on Wednesday, December 14th from 6-8pm at the American Legion Post on Old State Route 74. Bring your favorite holiday dish to share and celebrate the holiday season with FAST TRAC families!
